Site Evaluation
If you are a first-time rider, YC Transit may need to complete an evaluation of the pick-up location before your ride will be scheduled.
What to Expect
If it has been determined that a site evaluation is required, a driver will bring a Dial-A-Ride vehicle to the requested pick-up location to test the vehicles ability to safely navigate the roads, driveway, etc.
Possible reasons for a “failed” site evaluation may include:
- Roads that are too narrow or steep for drivers to safely navigate
- Driveways that may cause damage to YC Transit vehicles due to rocks or gravel
- Uneven terrain
A “failed” site evaluation only means that drivers will not pick up from that location, it does not exclude you from using Dial-A-Ride services.
Service Modifications
YCTA is committed to providing accessible and equitable service. Reasonable modifications to policies, practices, or procedures are available to ensure that riders with disabilities are not discriminated against.
Examples of reasonable modifications include:
- Assisting a rider with fare payment
- Allowing the driver to stop a short distance from an obstructed bus stop
- Permitting a rider with a medical condition to eat or drink while on a YC Transit vehicle to avoid adverse health consequences
If you need a specific modification, please let us know when scheduling your ride.
