Waiting at a Bus Stop

We Are on Our Way…

We understand that waiting at a bus stop can feel a bit tedious, but it’s a crucial step toward reaching your destination. By following the guidelines below, you’ll help keep everything on track and ensure timely departures for all riders.

Bus Stop Etiquette

During the Day

Shadows can make it difficult to see you. When you see the bus coming, wave at the driver to make sure you are seen.

After Sunset

At night, wear reflective clothing to be seen and wave a flashlight or a cell phone light when you see The Bus coming.

At All Times – Day or Night

Look up and look around your surroundings while you wait for your bus to improve your personal safety.

Arrive a Few Minutes Prior to Arrival

Arriving early will ensure that you and the other riders can safely get off and on the bus – and that The Bus stays on schedule.

Stay Near the Bus Stop Sign

In order to maintain a timely schedule, drivers are only required to stop and wait at time-point stops (these are the stops listed in the schedule). The driver will only stop at other bus stops if a rider is waiting, please remain close to the bus stop sign so your driver can easily see you. If you’re too far away, you may not appear to be waiting for the bus, and the driver might not stop.

Be Respectful of the Surrounding Area

Our bus stops are situated in various communities, including residential and commercial spaces. To maintain a pleasant environment for everyone, please dispose of your trash properly and keep noise levels to a minimum while waiting for the bus. Your consideration helps us foster a friendly atmosphere for all.

Have Your Fare Ready

Right now The Bus is still free to ride, but once YC Transit’s new fare policy is implemented, having your fare ready as you board will help us stay on schedule and keep The Bus moving!
