Rider Rules of Conduct

Welcome aboard The Bus!

To ensure a safe and enjoyable journey for everyone, we ask that all riders and drivers adhere to a straightforward set of conduct guidelines.

These rules are designed to enhance your comfort and security, making your ride as pleasant as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to seeing you on your next trip!

SERVICE CONDITIONS

YC Transit is committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all passengers. We may need to refuse service if someone’s behavior poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others, or if it is significantly disruptive. However, we want to emphasize that we do not refuse service to individuals with disabilities due to their appearance or involuntary behavior. Our goal is to accommodate everyone as respectfully and inclusively as possible.

Rules of Conduct

Be Considerate

  • If you use any electronic devices like music or game players or your cellphone, make sure you are using headphones to eliminate loud noise and distractions.
  • All animals must ride in an enclosed carrier, except for service animals.
  • Please keep your feet off of the seats.

Be Generous

Offer your seat to another passenger who may need it more than you. Keep priority seating at the front of the bus clear for seniors and people with a disability.

Be Neat

There is no smoking, chewing tobacco, eating or drinking allowed on the bus. Please make sure to dispose of your garbage in the proper receptacles, do not litter.

Watch Your Stuff

Each rider may bring up to three (3) items with a maximum weight of 40 pounds each. You are responsible for the management of your own carry-on items. Any items brought onto the bus need to be stored under your seat, out of the aisle and other passengers’ way. Carts, carriages, and strollers must be folded prior to boarding and should remain folded until you have safely de-boarded the bus.

No passengers are permitted to bring firearms, other weapons, or flammable and/or combustible materials onto a Yamhill County Transit vehicle.

Stay in Your Seat

Do not stand or move around the bus while the bus is in motion. If there is no seating room, you may only stand if the bus has handholds available for standing passengers. While standing, you must stay behind safety lines and away from any door wells.

Follow the Driver’s Instructions

Please refrain from distracting the driver while driving. If you have any problems or concerns, wait until the bus has ceased movement before Informing the driver. Disruptive and/or offensive behavior or language will result in removal from the bus at the sole discretion of the driver.

Be Careful

To avoid unnecessary accidents, please make sure to watch your step while entering and exiting the bus. If possible, exit the bus using the rear door. Please alert the driver if you need assistance disembarking with a mobility device.
